Phenotypic Acres has a long standing tradition of raising purebred Berkshires since the farm’s founding over 50 years ago. Our goals have always been to raise Berkshire hogs with the highest meat eating quality possible.
We are a Registered Berkshire Hog farm that raises our hogs from birth to market ourselves. All of our hogs are finished outside following the best industry standards for welfare and antibiotic use and utilizing production practices to guarantee the best meat eating quality possible
The Berkshire breed is known all around the world for its excellent meat eating quality. Out of all breeds, Berkshire pork is the leader in 19 meat eating quality traits including tenderness and juiciness to name a few.
Berkshire pork is the pork of choice in white cloth restaurants and is rarely available in grocery stores. Whether its a piece of meat that has a lot of marbling that leads to amazing flavor and juiciness or the tenderness that you can use a butter knife to cut the pork chop, Berkshire pork won't disappoint!

Hog Cost ($1.45/lb live weight with an average of 280lbs-320lbs) + Processing Cost = Overall Cost
Quantity of Pork:
A whole hog will be around 140 to 150 lbs of meat.
On average this is what you would receive for a whole hog: 28 lbs of pork chops or loin roast, 6 lbs of ribs, 24 lbs of shoulder roasts or steaks, 4 hocks (fresh or smoked), 20 lbs of ground pork or sausage (if you grind other cuts amount will increase), 36lbs of ham (half, whole or steaks), 20 lbs of bacon or fresh belly. Also, you can request liver and heart.
Processing of Pork:
For a whole hog, you will be able to work directly with the locker to place your personalized processing order. Once you have placed your order for a whole hog, we will let you know which locker you will work with and when you need to place your order by. A half hog will be around 70to 75lbs of meat.
On average this is what you would receive for a half hog: 14lbs of pork chops or loin roast, 3lbs of ribs, 12lbs of shoulder roasts or steaks, 2 hocks (fresh or smoked), 10lbs of ground pork or sausage (if you grind other cuts amount will increase), 18lbs of ham (half, whole or steaks), 10 lbs of bacon or fresh belly. Also, you can request liver and heart.
Processing of Pork:
For a half hog, you will be able to work directly with the locker to place your personalized processing order. Once you have placed your order for a whole hog, we will let you know which locker you will work with and when you need to place your order by.
